MADE IN MISSISSIPPI: The TM1000 from Taylor Power Systems in Clinton recently won the inaugural Mississippi Makers' Challenge Sponsored by Hancock Whitney. We detail its design and capabilities, as well as all of Taylor Power's offerings, in this month's edition of Made in Mississippi.

FLOWOOD - The MMA PAC Golf Tournament was held Wednesday and it was the first day of activities for the 2021 Environmental and Safety Conference. The tournament was held at the recently-renovated Refuge Golf Course. 27 teams competed, and the winning team was from Waring Oil. The players on the winning team were Charles Waring, Pierson Waring, Howard Waring, and Richard Waring. Thursday was the first day of meetings and presentations. The Keynote Speaker was John Blevins, who is the Acting Administrator for Region 4 of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The next session was a Sustainability Panel. The presenters were Melissa Pringle from Allen Engineering, Ashley Kimes from International Paper, Kristi Mitchum from Chevron, and Jennifer Koski from Chemours. The following session was titled Environmental Justice, and was given by Annie McIlwain from PPM Consultants, The afternoon featured breakout sessions with speakers tailored for the Environmental track or the Safety track. Dr. Taylor has served as the Vice-President of Workforce and Economic Development at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC), where she manages all workforce related efforts and serves as the director of the world class Communiversity, a state-of-the-art training facility in Columbus, Mississippi. OSHA Issues Heat Awareness Information

JACKSON -  High temperatures are always a concern during summers in Mississippi, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is reminding employers to be mindful of heat-related illnesses. OSHA says employers must evaluate their work sites to determine if they have employees exposed to life-threatening heat conditions, and, if needed, to take proactive steps to reduce exposure. OSHA provides outreach, materials, and guidance in its Heat Illness Prevention Program.
