2021 MMA Environmental and Safety Conference

FLOWOOD - The MMA PAC Golf Tournament was held Wednesday and it was the first day of activities for the 2021 Environmental and Safety Conference. The tournament was held at the recently-renovated Refuge Golf Course. 27 teams competed, and the winning team was from Waring Oil. The players on the winning team were Charles Waring, Pierson Waring, Howard Waring, and Richard Waring. Thursday was the first day of meetings and presentations. The Keynote Speaker was John Blevins, who is the Acting Administrator for Region 4 of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The next session was a Sustainability Panel. The presenters were Melissa Pringle from Allen Engineering, Ashley Kimes from International Paper, Kristi Mitchum from Chevron, and Jennifer Koski from Chemours. The following session was titled Environmental Justice, and was given by Annie McIlwain from PPM Consultants, The afternoon featured breakout sessions with speakers tailored for the Environmental track or the Safety track. General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Expanding in Iuka

JACKSON (Courtesy: Mississippi Development Authority) – General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems is expanding its facility in Iuka. The expansion, which will accommodate future work, is a $3.9 million corporate investment and is expected to create 50 jobs. GA-EMS applies research, science and technology innovation to develop and deliver multi-mission systems and first-of-kind products, such as aircraft launch and recovery systems, to help defend national interests and support critical commercial enterprises worldwide. GA-EMS’s Iuka expansion marks the company’s 13th expansion in the state in 16 years. For the project, the company is completing building renovations that will provide a world-class structural fabrication space for a large welding and fabrication workforce of 50 or more employees.
